The law firm of Fishbein & Fishbein, P.A. has been located in historic Ellicott City, Howard County, since 1977. The principals of the firm are Brenda and Alan Fishbein. Serving clients in both the Baltimore and Washington metropolitan areas, it also maintains an office in Montgomery County in Rockville, Maryland. 

The firm maintains a general civil practice with a special emphasis in the areas of personal injury, medical malpractice, domestic and family law, construction litigation, corporate and commercial transactions, estate planning and general civil litigation. The firm is also involved in a wide range of criminal defense litigation including juvenile and traffic matters, alcohol related offenses, and probation violations. Clients include general contractors, subcontractors, construction material suppliers, construction equipment lessors, insurance companies, corporations and individuals.

Many of our clients have been with the firm for years and most were referred to us by existing clients or by other law firms. Alan L. Fishbein is the founding partner of Fishbein & Fishbein, P.A. Born in Washington, D.C., he has lived in Howard County since 1976. Mr. Fishbein attended Boston University where he completed its division of general education program. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies from George Washington University and graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1976. In private practice in Howard County since 1977, Alan Fishbein is a member of the Howard County, Montgomery County, Maryland, District of Columbia and American Bar Associations. In addition, he is a member of the Maryland Trial Lawyer's Association, the American Trial Lawyer's Association, the Maryland Criminal Defense Lawyer's Association, the Maryland Association of Defense Trial Counsel and the Defense Research Institute. He is a past section council representative representing Howard, Anne Arundel and Carroll Counties to the Young Lawyer's Section Council of the Maryland Bar Association and a past chairperson of the District Court Committee of the Young

Lawyer's Section of Maryland State Bar Association. He serves as the chairperson of the Howard County Bar Association Committee on Professional Standards. In addition, he serves as a member of the Howard County Bar Association's judicial recommendations committee and as a member of the Maryland State Bar Association Litigation Section District Court Committee. He is also an arbitrator for the Maryland State Bar Association Fee Disputes Committee.

Mr. Fishbein has extensive trial experience in both civil and criminal litigation. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of civil matters and travels extensively in the State of Maryland trying cases in the various counties of Maryland and the District of Columbia. Mr. Fishbein is an active member of the community serving as a volunteer on behalf of the Howard County Association of Retarded Citizens, the Howard County Israel Bonds Committee, the United Jewish Appeal of Howard County and as a past President of Beth Shalom Synagogue.

Brenda S. Fishbein, a partner in the firm, received her B.A. in English from the University of Maryland in 1973. Originally from Montgomery County, Ms. Fishbein has resided in Howard County since 1976. Prior to graduating from the University of Maryland School of Law in June, 1979, Ms. Fishbein worked in the Disability Claims Department of the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn, Maryland for five years. She was admitted to the Bar in 1979. 

Concentrating her efforts to assist clients in personal injury matters and domestic relations. Ms. Fishbein also handles matters involving wills, estates and problems of the elderly population. Commercial client representation includes contract litigation, business organization and debt collection.

In addition to the Maryland and Howard County Bar Associations, Ms. Fishbein is also a member of the Women's Bar Association of Maryland and the local Howard County Chapter. A former member of the Howard County Commission for Women, Ms. Fishbein is also a member of the Howard County Business Women's Network.

An active member of her local community, Ms. Fishbein has served as an officer of her homeowner's association and was an elected member of the Board of Directors of the Howard County section of the National Council of Jewish Women for over ten years.

Ms. Fishbein has been a guest lecturer for the Howard Community College's Business Law Course for several years, has been invited to speak to students at several of the area schools on various legal issues and has conducted mock trials for area students.
